These 10 Scriptures are reckoned to be dangerous falsehood by the Evangelical Church.
He (Jesus) is the Saviour of ALL MEN, but particularly those who believe. (1 Tim.4:10)
God will have ALL MEN to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Tim.2:4)
He (Jesus) gave Himself a ransom FOR ALL, . . to be made known in its own time. (1 Tim.2:6)
And I, if I am lifted up, will draw ALL MEN unto myself. (John 12:32)
He is the mercy seat for our sins, and not for ours only but for the sins of the WHOLE WORLD. (1 John 2:1)
He (Jesus) tasted death on behalf of EVERY MAN. (Hebrews 2:9)
He (Jesus) died on behalf of ALL. (2 Cor.5:15)
As one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all men, so One Man’s act of righteousness leads to acquittal and life for ALL MEN. (Rom.5:18)
As in Adam all die, so in Christ shall ALL be made alive. (1 Cor.15:22)
At the name of Jesus EVERY knee shall bow, and EVERY tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. (Phil.2:9)
But this is ridiculous. These Scriptures are plain, with no suggestion of figures of speech, but none of them can be accepted at face value by Evangelicals who believe that over 90% of mankind will be consigned to conscious everlasting torment.
But a moment’s reflection will show that all the verses speaking about “hell fire” arefigurative, and need to be seen as George MacDonald explained – “Hell is God’s, not the Devil’s. Hell is on the side of God and man, to free the child of God from the corruption of death. . . . I believe that the very fire of hell is the fire of love, but it is a love that will burn the evil out of you.”
Hell, therefore, is the mechanism God uses to achieve what He declared in that list of 10 Scriptures – in other words, ultimate reconciliation for all, NOT everlasting torment. God is love. It is His nature. He cannot possibly act in any other way.
