We have recently been purchasing and reading a few testimony books dealing with visionary experiences. In a section of our recent series “The City of God” we mentioned one such, entitled “Nine Days in Heaven” by Marietta Davis. This is an exceptionally good book, one that we can thoroughly recommend, containing nothing that in any way contradicts Scripture. It has a “clean” spiritual feel about it, and is God-honouring. The experience that Miss Davis had whilst she was in a coma is quite amazing, and we were uplifted by the whole sequence. [Read more…]

17. Coming Soon
“Behold, I am coming soon.” (Rev.22:7 & 12) “The Spirit and the Bride say ‘Come!’ and let him who hears say ‘Come!'” (Rev.22:17)
The emphasis on the near return of the Lord in the last chapter of Revelation is very pronounced. One can hardly fail to miss the sense of excitement and anticipation expressed there. “And he said to me, ‘These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His angel to show His servants what must soon take place. 14. No more Curses – Part 2
“Unto the woman He said, ‘I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in sorrow you shall bring forth children.'” (Gen.3:16)
The A.V. accurately follows the Hebrew. But the Revised Standard Version decided it would write its own commentary on this verse. It reads – “I will greatly multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children.” Now let’s stop here for a moment, because women will tell you they call labour pains “the curse.” For centuries in the Western World this has been the common understanding. But the Hebrew word was “sorrow”, not “pain.” Were the RSV translators exceeding their brief in this respect? [Read more…]
