Seven years ago we planted a Vine in our garden, and threaded the tender shoot through a hole in the brickwork into our conservatory. Each year we have watched the growth, and in the last two years gathered grapes. But this year we have seen the first of really mature bunches of grapes hanging from the verdant greenery across the roof of the conservatory. [Read more…]
2. Wind and Waves
The world has recently been bombarded with two words that have now become household expressions. They are Katrina and Tsunami. The devastation caused by the Hurricane Katrina, and the great Tidal Wave that hit on Christmas Day with the loss of thousands of lives, will live on in the memories of many people. [Read more…]
3. Desperate Atheist Rage
A friend of mine from the 1940s era once told me an amusing tale. He was himself a Jewish Christian, and one given to argument, who liked to bat himself against all forms of opposition to his faith in Christ. And so he made repeated use of one of England’s favourite places for sharing views with the public, namely Hyde Park Corner in London, where many have had their own “soap box” and let forth on whatever views kept their brains steaming. 4. Identified Flying Objects
Yes, I meant that! Although this article will be about UFOs, I would like to suggest that from a Christian point of view, their cover is blown, and therefore we may refer to them as Identified Flying Objects, or IFOs. 5. Crop Circles

Warminster had been the busy centre of UFO activity for some 20 years, even though by the time we moved there in July, most of the activity had died down. [Read more…]
6. Star People
Some people believe they have come from somewhere else. They certainly show a number of differences, or slight abnormalities, compared with the “average” human being. But that could of course be accounted for by the laws of chance. As human beings we do display a very wide range of differences, not only in skin colour, but also in stature, physiognomy and so on. [Read more…]
7. The Supernatural
I can well imagine some readers commenting on the last three numbers in this series, saying, “What possible value is it for me to know about UFOs, Crop Circles, and Star People?”
An answer is needed. The word “supernatural” means literally above the natural, and therefore has to do with anything that exists on a higher dimensional plane to that which we can observe with our five senses. [Read more…]
8. Fibonacci and the Golden Section
Suppose you were employed by a publishing firm as a graphic artist, and you were required to present a diagram for a children’s encyclopaedia under the heading ‘Rectangle.” Which of the following designs would you have chosen to illustrate the word? [Read more…]
