2. Rave Music
A word of warning to parents
Our bodies and minds have been created by God to operate in certain well-defined ways. One of these functions relates to rhythm in music. Almost all “normal” music adheres to this pattern, simply because we have these in-built sensitivities to what is most congenial to our well-being. But Satan is out to destroy mankind, not so much by butchery, as in bygone days, but by mental manipulation. And in the sphere of music, he is subtlety personified. [Read more…]
3. “I know you”
“Known”
“I know you. I created you. I have loved you from your mother’s womb. You have fled – as you now know – from my love, but I love you nevertheless and not-the-less however far you flee. It is I who sustains your very power of fleeing, and I will never finally let you go. I accept you as you are. You are forgiven. [Read more…]
4. God of all men
The wisdom of Solomon
“You are merciful to all men, because You have power to do all things. You overlook the sins of men to the end that they might repent. For all things that exist are dear to You, and You hate nothing that You have created. Why else would You have made it? And how can anything continue in existence, had it not been Your will? How could it have endured unless You had called it into existence? You spare all things because they are Yours, our Lord and Master who loves all that lives, for Your Incorruptible Spirit is in them all. For this reason You correct offenders little by little, admonishing them and reminding them of their sins, that they may leave their evil ways and put their trust O Lord in You. – – For Your strength is the source of justice, and it is because You are Master of all that You spare all. You show Your strength when men doubt the perfection of Your power; it is when they know it but remain insolent that You punish them. But with the strength at Your command You judge in mercy and rule us in great forbearance, for Your sovereignty is over all. The power is Yours whensoever You have the will.”
The Wisdom of Solomon, 11:23 – 12:2 & 12:16-18
5. Truth and Error
Divided by Truth
“It is better to be divided by truth than to be united in error. It is better to speak the truth that hurts and then heals, than falsehood that comforts and then kills. Let me tell you something, friend, it is not love and it is not friendship if we fail to declare the whole counsel of God. It is better to be hated for telling the truth, than to be loved for telling a lie. It is impossible to find anyone in the Bible who was a power for God who did not have enemies and was not hated. It’s better to stand alone with the truth, than to be wrong with a multitude. It is better to ultimately succeed with the truth than to temporarily succeed with a lie. There is only one Gospel and Paul said, “If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed”.”
(Excerpts from Pastor Adrian Rodgers’ talk at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in 1996)
Jesus said, “I am the Way, the TRUTH, and the Life.”
6. Ruth Prince
Derek Prince wrote as follows, in October 1998 – A LAST WORD FROM RUTH “Shortly before Ruth was taken into the hospital for the last time, she and I were sitting up in bed praying together, as we usually did. Quite unexpectedly the Lord gave me an utterance in a tongue. Ruth immediately reached for her miniature tape recorder, which she kept in a drawer beside the bed, and recorded the following interpretation which the Lord gave her.” [Read more…]
7. Talking Trees
Trees that speak
“Let the floods clap their hands – -.” Psalm 98:8
“All the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:12
Poetic language, no doubt, but to some who live in Nagaland, on the border of Burma and India, one might excuse their enthusiasm for taking things more literally! [Read more…]
8. Dangers of rock music
In W.P.2 we published a Warning to parents on the dangers of certain forms of modern music, and the effect it was having, especially on the young people of today. On the same theme, we now reproduce the letter sent toBritain a few years ago by Peter Peters, Head of the Unregistered Union of Russian Churches in Moscow, andVasilij Ryzhuk, one of the Elders. It is a chilling commentary on the Rock scene. [Read more…]
9. True Worship
In these days of the Charismatic Movement, which has swept the world like a tidal wave, believers have grown used to thinking of “worship” in terms of a particular time-slot in their fellowship meetings, associated with music, musicians, and “worship leaders.” But true worship was defined in Exodus 20:25-26, following immediately after the Decalogue. 10. A wonderful building
Howard Hughes may have amassed a huge fortune through “black gold”, but his acquisitions were a mere nothingness compared with what I own. I am the proud possessor of a fabulous building in which I live in comfort and security. Let me tell you about some of its systems and properties. Probably you won’t believe me, but nevertheless I assure you it’s all true. [Read more…]
