  God’s Promises & Man’s Responsibility

1. “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.”  Malachi 3:10
2. Let’s consider God’s promises in this matter. “If my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”  2 Chron.7:14
3. We have seen that when Revival starts God takes over, and man retires from the scene. But what about the very first signs of movement within those whom God has chosen as His instruments? How did it start?

The Great Revival of Jonah’s Day

The Bible has an account of a special Revival, the Great Revival of Jonah’s day. The Lord told Jonah that He would destroy Nineveh. Jonah wanted Nineveh destroyed. He feared that by invasion that wicked city might spell disaster for Israel. So the disobedient prophet went on a Mediterranean cruise, but God had a purpose, and would not be thwarted. Due to the storm, and Jonah’s explanations, he was thrown overboard, thinking that by his death God’s prophecy would be fulfilled. And yes, he did die in the fish, and the fish said, “You make me sick,” and unceremoniously vomited him onto the shore, where He was raised from the dead. Much chastened by the experience he made preparations to go to Nineveh, having yellow wrinkled skin from the digestive juices of the fish. This became the mark of a sign. News from the terrified sailors got around, and eventually reached Nineveh. When Jonah finally arrived there, people were dead scared of him, and the king ordered national repentance. So great was this event that it affected everyone. The whole city of Nineveh repented, and God’s judgment was averted. There were 120,000 children in that city, too young to know left hand from right. So it must have had a population of about 700,000 people, a truly great revival. [Read more…]

The Coming of Elijah

 Due to a misunderstanding of what Jesus said, we hardly ever hear about the Prophet Elijah returning to the earthly scene. But this is as certain as all the other Biblical prophecies. Here is the Scriptural evidence.

Malachi 4 :5-6 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

This has never happened. But the Lord Jesus confirmed Malachi’s word when He said,  “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things.”  Matt.17:11 [Read more…]

Times of Refreshing & Times of Restitution

 Elijah is prophesied to “turn the fathers to the children, and the children to the fathers.” There has been no day like the present when family life is disrupted almost beyond repair, where marital breakdown has thrown so many children into the category of “one-parent families”.

But Jesus affirmed that “Elijah will come first and restore all things,” which has a wider connotation. The verb to restore, is apokathistemi in Greek, a verb describing a complete restoration, as found, for example in Matt.12:13 where Jesus said to a man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other.” [Read more…]

 

The Role of Michael the Archangel

 Not only Elijah, but the Archangel Michael will be on duty during the build-up of this Great Revival. But whereas Elijah will be very much in evidence here on earth, Michael will be unseen by most, dealing with matters on a higher dimensional level, on behalf of all God’s children. He will be either incarcerating or destroying the wild beasts of Revelation that have injected their evil schemes into the minds of godless people, whereby they become human reflections of what the beasts are themselves. When these beasts have been removed from their heavenly positions, the minds of men may begin to resume a more human outlook, less like terrorists. [Read more…]
