Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth, and the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
The second verse of Genesis 1 has been the subject of controversy for a long time. Traditionally most contend that the verse should stand as it is in the Authorised Version, but others insist that it should read, “and the earth became without form and void.” This latter group adhere to what has been called THE GAP THEORY.
