- CONCLUSION TO SERIES
We started by looking at the creation of Eve from Adam’s rib, and followed on by considering Israel as a Chosen Nation, and how eventually they became sleepy. Then Paul showed us how the sleep of Israel begat the times of the Gentiles, and the formation of the Church, the Bride of Christ. All this can now be presented in the form of a Table of Comparison, whereby an interesting truth emerges.
Adam given two jobs, to tend and keep the Garden, (his own domain) and to name all the animals, (exterior to his immediate needs.). | Israel given two jobs, to tend and keep the nation subject to the laws of God, (his inward duty) and to be a light to lighten the Gentiles, (his outward duty). |
“It is not good for man to dwell alone.” | But Israel decided it was very good to “be alone”, to be God’s chosen nation, a favourite. |
“I will make him a helper, like unto himself.” | Israel didn’t want a “helper”, especially from amongst the Gentiles, and began to despise the nations, and treat them as dogs, unclean. |
The Lord caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam. | Isaiah is sent to “this people” to “Make the heart of this people fat, and their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” |
And He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh in its place | Saul of Tarsus became the Rib. He was an example of all that was wrong in Israel, intent on crucifying the Messiah, and persecuting the Elect unto death. He was made blind as a symbol of Israel’s blindness, and then healed. He was one “born before the due time”. |
And the Rib taken from Adam He made into a woman | Paul became God’s instrument to go to the Gentiles, which Israel had signally failed to do, and become the “light to lighten them” according to the command and will of God. Paul’s epistles have been the means whereby God has built up His Bride whilst Israel remains asleep. |
Adam is awakened, and Eve brought to him, and he recognizes her, saying “this is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh” | A day is coming when the scales will fall from Israel’s eyes, as they were from Saul’s, and they will recognise their own folly, recognise their Messiah, and recognise the Gentile Bride. This will happen when “the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.” |
God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” | The Kingdom of God begins, and all the Elect of God will reign with Christ for a thousand years, bringing the saving knowledge of God to all mankind. |
