The Character of the Coming Revival
Just a few years after the “Jonah” prophecy, another of God’s prophets had a word describing the character of the coming revival. Here is the text of that prophecy. The Great Revival and Judgment Scene will not be to everyone’s liking, but will be a time of blessed relief for the downtrodden, persecuted, and despised of the world.
“I am about to do a work that will astound the nations of this world. It will come upon them suddenly when they least expect it. It will take men by surprise, from the godliest to the most arrogant. It will alter the face of the world; it will shatter kingdoms; it will break down fences; it will demand great things from those who can bear to listen to my voice; it will tear down the mighty from the seat of pride and exalt the humble in spirit, granting them release from bondage.
“Who can stand when I arise from my place? Who will be able to pursue any longer his path to the tree of knowledge? Who will be able to maintain theories that fill the mind and starve the heart? Who will be able to trust the vanities of life, and the profound emptiness which man uses as his covering?
“Behold, the utter desolation and nakedness of man will be exposed, and men will run to places of refuge lest their nakedness be seen and they suffer acute embarrassment. Such is the nature of the light which will shine, and which will dispel the darkness that has grown more and more intense in the years between.
“Laughter will be turned to mourning; joy will be turned into tears; mirth will give way to bitterness of soul as man sees more clearly than ever before the nature of what is around him, and the worthlessness of the things in which he has put his trust.
“Such will be the character of my day. Such will be the manifestation of the sons of God, and the blessings they will bring to those who are ready and willing to accept my ways. Such will be the entrance of new things into a world that has grown old and stale, bearing the ill savour of pollution and decay.
“Such will be the winding up of the present order of things, and the entrance of new light, by which man may live in peace, and reach out for a deeper understanding of his God. Such is the word of announcement that is now sent forth to herald these things. When they come to pass, the world will know and understand that it is the outworking of my plan, declares Almighty God.”
