10. “Spiritualism” and “Enlightenment”. Karl Marx and Charles Darwin

1st August 2001 by Arthur Eedle

Throughout  all  the  ages of man,  there has been a  tendency  to intrude into matters “invisible”. Man’s latent curiosity has often been aroused to know about,  and to try to contact, those who have  “passed on”.  The Bible records much evidence in the Old Testament of groups of people devoted to practices of this kind,  and the Lord gave Moses dire warnings  for  the children of Israel,  that should  anyone  be  found indulging in such practices, they would be under penalty of death. 11. San Francisco Earthquake, and Azusa Street

1st August 2001 by Arthur Eedle

Books  about general knowledge,  and encyclopedias of one type and another,  all have graphic accounts of the devastating Richter 8.25 earthquake  that almost  completely  destroyed the city of San Francisco on  April  18th 1906.  But something else was transpiring way down the California coast at  Los  Angeles  at the same time,  which is very  difficult  to  find recorded  in any books.  And yet to the one who has an active faith  in Jesus   Christ,   this  other  event cannot  be  dissociated  from  the earthquake,  and  indeed helps to explain it,  rather than “explain  it away,” as is the common habit. The following historical information has been extracted from “Prophecy Today”, Volumes 7 & 8. [Read more…]

12. The Llanelli Vision of July 1914

1st August 2001 by Arthur Eedle

Sunday June 28th, 1914 was a turning point in European history, for on that day Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austrian throne, and his wife, were assassinated in the Serbian town of Sarajevo. The repercussions of this event reverberated throughout Europe.Austria’s reply was sent to Serbia on Thursday 23rd July. It was an ultimatum, and because the response was unsatisfactory, war was declared on Tuesday July 28th.  Britain, along with other countries, entered the war on Tuesday August 4th. The British Foreign Secretary, Sir Edward Grey, spoke his famous prophetic words that same day – “The lights are going out all overEurope. We shall not see them lit again in our lifetime.”  What Sir Winston Churchill called“this terrible half century” had begun. [Read more…]

13. The Olympic Games revived. 1896

1st August 2001 by Arthur Eedle

Of all the games held throughout Greece, the Olympic Games are the most famous. Held every four years between August 6 and September 19, (though later beginning on July 1st) they occupied such an important place in Greek life that time was measured by the interval between them–an Olympiad. 14. The emergence of the European Union. Revival of the Roman Empire

1st August 2001 by Arthur Eedle

PART 1. THE DOWNFALL OF EMPIRES.

As we approach the climax of the ages, and God begins to establish His Kingdom on earth in a visible manner, the subject of national identity and sovereignty assumes vital importance. The Scriptures declare unambiguously that God favours the establishment of nations, each with its own identity, customs, and manners, even though the “Kingdoms of this world have become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.” The United Kingdom of Christ is a spiritual foundation stone, but it will contain all the varieties of national characteristics. Even as each human being is unique in God’s creation, so also each nation in the Millennium will be unique. Furthermore, each nation will be self-governing, not ruled by other nations. Each nation will need to look to the Spiritual Head over all nations, even the Lord Christ Himself. [Read more…]

1st August 2001 by Arthur Eedle

Alfred Dreyfus was born October 19th 1859 in Alsace. Little did he know  in  his  childhood days that his name would appear  in  all  the world’s encyclopaedias for something he hadn’t done! [Read more…]

16. Dr. Theodor Herzl

1st August 2001 by Arthur Eedle

Theodor Herzl was born 2nd May 1860 in Budapest, Hungary, part of the old Austrian empire. He died 3rd July 1904, Edlach, Austria at only 44 years of age.

Herzl was born of well-to-do middle-class parents. His first taste of school life brought him considerable trauma due to violent anti-semitism. Therefore in 1875 his parents transferred him to a school where most of the students were Jews. [Read more…]

17. Dr. Theodor Herzl and the Zionist Congress

1st September 2001 by Arthur Eedle

THE OBSERVER newspaper, on June 28th 1896, had some important news to give its readers. It concerned the possibility of the Jews returning to  their  original  land ofPalestine.  And because of  the  sensation caused,  the  matter was taken up by THE JEWISH CHRONICLE on July  3rd, and made the leading article in that paper.  Because of the  importance of this, (even after such a long time) we now reprint this article in full. 18. Russia, Lenin, and Aristocoli’s prophecy to Valentina

1st September 2001 by Arthur Eedle

Many  different  influences were beginning to affect the world  in the latter years of the 19th century.  Truly there was a great wind  of change. It was as though “the four winds of heaven were striving on the great  sea”,  and  certainly  some pretty nasty  beasts were  arising out of the turbulent waters. Whether  they  were  the fulfilment  of  Daniel’s visions  and prophecies,  only  time  will tell,  because there is no  concensus  of opinion amongst Biblical scholars as to the interpretation of Daniel’s vision.  However,  in this historical survey it  has  been our intention to introduce factors which  don’t  normally appear in the history books, and so we continue that process, this time within  that  great eastern country of  Russia.  First  of all,  a  little background. 19. The loss of the Titanic, 1912

1st September 2001 by Arthur Eedle

Morgan Robertson was born in 1861. His father was a ship’s captain on  the  Great Lakes in America.  He followed his father in becoming  a seaman,  and spent six years at sea.  After this he quit seafaring  and went  to New York and studied to become a jeweller. At 33 years of age he  married.  But his business was not altogether a success,  and  this together with a frail wife,  and his own failing eyesight,  led him  to sell up. He desperately sought a new means of making a livelihood. [Read more…]
