Today! What is it? About 8 hours sleep and 16 hours activity. Let us concentrate on the hours of activity.
Time – how shall we describe it? Like a railroad track. The sleepers mark off successive days. But there is another railroad track, invisible to us, but just as real. Think of it as intersecting with our track, but vertical. This track is used by God, and He tells us a little about it. He says “One of my days is like 1000 years of yours, and 1000 years of my days could be like one day on your track, or even just the 4 hours of a nightwatch.”
This statement, given to Moses, and recorded in Psalm 90, helps us to understand some of the perplexing things given to the prophets. But the most important thing for us is the point of INTERSECTION. It is here that God meets with us. He does so a day at a time. He says, “Sufficient unto the Day”. He says, “I AM is my name, and I want you to find my will for you TODAY. Leave tomorrow in my hands.”
And so, with our left hand we stretch back to Calvary, and rejoice in our salvation, with our right hand we stretch forwards to the blessings of His Kingdom, but our feet walk on the railroad track between two sleepers, which is Today. “Today, if you hear My voice, do not harden your heart.” All those little acts of faith-obedience have tremendous influence in overcoming the ways and plans of the enemy. Rejoice in Today!
