Here once again is the Divine Name presented backwards, as before.
H | V | H | Y |
Year | Month | Day | Hour |
The Year and the Day are both governed by the Sun. We recognise the Year by the seasons, and the Day by the Earth’s rotation. Both are determined by the Sun, and therefore they form a pair, so we have placed them beneath the two letter Hs in the Name.
The Month is determined by the Moon’s phases, and belongs beneath the letter V.
The Hour is decided by man himself, and he has chosen to divide the day into 12 hours (or 24 hours). Hence we place it under the Y letter.
The Year, Day, and the Month are all determined by astronomical bodies, but the Hour is a God-ordained division of the Day. It is therefore the “odd man out” in this group of four.
“So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind.” (Rev.9:15) This verse gives us the rationale for assuming that there are four basic divisions of time in the Scriptures.
John 11:9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day?
