I have found eight characters from the Gospel records, all of whom were commended by our Lord. Perhaps there are more.
John the Baptist.
Commended for being the greatest prophet of all time.
Nathanael.
Commended for quick recognition of Jesus as the Christ.
Simon Peter.
Commended for receiving revelation from the Father about the Christ.
The Centurion.
Commended for his simple active faith in Jesus.
The Publican.
Commended for recognising his need of a Saviour.
The Syrophoenician woman.
Commended for her persistence of faith, in the face of the Lord’s denial.
The woman with the haemorrhage.
Commended for her active faith when touching the Lord’s garment.
The woman who cast her coin into the Treasury.
Commended for her lack of concern for material wealth.
Are we anxious to hear the Master’s commendation, “Well done, good and faithful servant”?
