“And God said to Noah, ‘An end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth has been full of violence from their presence; and lo, I am destroying them with the earth.” Genesis 6:13. YLT.
Who are “them”? The Genesis text of the beginning of chapter six tells us that some angels left their heavenly dimension and came to earth. They were becoming enamoured with the beauty of earth women. Having taken wives (plural) from amongst them, they procreated, and the women gradually found abnormalities as their children developed. Today we would say that their pituitary gland, which controls growth to manhood, was not functioning normally. The result was continual growth to gigantic proportions. This happens with reptiles, which continue to grow throughout their lives, and accounts for some of the massive fossil skeletons of ante-diluvial creatures.
But some argue that the “sons of God” mentioned in the Genesis text were those of the line of Seth, rather than of angelic origin. The following two quotes surely won’t allow that interpretation?
“For God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus and delivered them into pits of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly.” 2 Peter 2:4-5.
“And the angels who did not maintain their proper [dimensional] state, but deserted their own habitation, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.” Jude 1:6
We now have to ask whether in modern times there has been a similar irruption of fallen angels to earth, parallel to that of Noah’s day. One interesting comment in Daniel’s prophecies may be helpful here. We are told that the Little Horn (a corporate antichrist figure) “shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all.” Dan.11:37 The suggestion is that there will indeed be fallen angels on earth in these last days, but that it will not be a repeat of earlier activity, where the angels certainly had the desire of women.
In Hebrews 13:2 we are encouraged “not to forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.” If therefore angels of the Lord sometimes appear in human form, and we fail to appreciate their origin, it follows that the same may be happening with fallen angels. Should this be so, then it opens up a whole new area of study, in which we envisage strong corrupting influences emanating from certain “persons”, who in fact are of angelic origin. Many are the reports of angelic visitations in which the date of Christ’s return is revealed, in disobedience to Christ’s actual words.
But it is also possible for an angelic spirit to enter a human being and take over the running of his life, whilst the human spirit becomes almost dormant. If this is the case, then we should be looking for dramatic changes in certain people, changes which seem quite dramatic and unaccountable in ordinary human terms. For example, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, (1931 – 1990) the Indian guru, claimed that this happened to him as a result of practising “kundalini”.
Be assured that the undesirable presence of a “lodger” can only take place with those who dabble in the occult. The Lord would never allow it to happen with His children. More next time.
